Mikumi National Park
Katavi National Park is a Tanzanian national park created in 1974 and is located in Katavi Region, Tanzania.
Mikumi National Park
Mikumi National Park is one of the most natural, untouched parks in Africa. It’s a stunning and lush expanse of land with unique wildlife and vegetation that make visiting it feel like stepping into another world. This National Park is a special place. The name means “beautiful view” in Swahili, and it lives up to its namesake with deep valleys rolling off into the distance as far as you can see. It stretches across over 6000 acres which includes sub-alpine forests and grasslands where you will find herds of zebras grazing peacefully while giraffes tower above them on long stilts at observation posts looking out for predators.
This place is covered with open savannah but has since been reclaimed for farmland due to improper use of forest resources during colonization when Europeans began settling here early last century. When you book Tanzania Budget Safari Packages, do make sure to check if this beautiful destination is included.
You’ll find giraffes grazing alongside zebras on this vast grassland plateau, elephants roaming around as if they’re just walking through their own backyard–it’s an incredible experience to be among these animals when you know how endangered they are in other parts of the continent!
Mikumi National Park is well known for its diverse ecosystem and rich biodiversity. The park features an immense variety of environments, including grasslands, wetlands, wooded areas with dry deciduous trees and rainforest vegetation as well as evergreen montane forests that are the highest in Africa south of Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s also home to more than 10% of Tanzania’s bird species- about 380 recorded sightings! All these factors make Mikumi a popular tourist destination attracting locals from Dar es Salaam or Arusha who come on weekends for their camping experience combined with wildlife viewing excursions into this lush paradise by land rover safari vehicles or even hiking along one of several trails leading off through the forest foot. Various animals such as lions, cheetahs, giraffes are commonly found here alongside zebras and elephants!
